SJTPO has released the draft of Transportation Matters – A Plan for South Jersey! This plan will shape South Jersey’s long-term transportation future, setting the vision, goals, and strategies that will guide the region’s transportation decision making for the next 24 years. More information here

Submissions for Safe Routes to School Program Funding Being Accepted Through June 27th

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Does your community need to address a critical need to enable students to walk or bike to and from school safely? The Safe Routes to School Program may be able to provide funding to help and applications for the 2016 Program are now being accepted through June 27, 2016. Similar to the 2014 Program, applications must be submitted via Sage. County and municipal governments, school districts, and schools are eligible to apply.

To avoid common mistakes, review “How to Maximize Your Chances of Success” on our Safe Routes page. In addition, review NJDOT’s FAQs, the Safe Routes to School Resource Center website, and don’t forget to attend one of the training workshops to learn about success stories and helpful tips for applicants. Finally, Cross County Connection has a designated coordinator to assist applicants seeking Safe Routes funds.

Information About New Federal Transportation Bill – FAST Act – Now Available

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On December 4, 2015, President Obama signed into law the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act, or “FAST Act.” This federal transportation bill directs much of the federal funding that goes into our transportation system.

NJ Bike/Ped Plan Update: Share Your Thoughts and Favorite Bike/Ped Locations


SJTPO is partnered with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) in seeking your input on the current needs and barriers related to biking and walking in New Jersey as well as priorities for improvements. Please complete a brief 10-minute survey by May 16th at www.njbikepedsurvey.com.

Amendments to FY 2016-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Available for Public Comment

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]SJTPO has two minor Amendments, which will be considered for Policy Board action at their March 28, 2016 meeting. Any interested parties are invited to comment on the proposed amendment. Written comments must be received by 5:00 pm, Thursday, March 24, 2016.

DB# S1410 – Eleventh Avenue (CR 669), Municipal Border to Route 50 (Broad Street), Mill & Overlay Resurfacing; Atlantic County is requesting that this project be deleted from the FY 2016-2025 TIP/STIP. The project was funded for construction in FY 2017 for $1,700,000.

DB# S1603 – Washington Avenue (CR 608), Route 9 (New Road) to Fire Road (CR 651), Mill & Overlay Resurfacing; Atlantic County is requesting that this project be added to the FY 2016-2025 TIP/STIP in FY 2017 for $1,700,000 of Construction funding.

Request for Proposal Now Available: FY 2016-2017 Traffic Data Collection
