Comments on Draft FY 2009 – 2012 TIP

At the July 1, 2008 Public Meeting

Route 56/Landis Avenue should be redesigned from the WalMart to Route 55 to provide bike lanes

This is currently being investigated by the City of Vineland as part of a broader analysis of  bicycle routes.

The Landis Avenue Express buses should be equipped with bike racks.

We have contacted Mr. Dante Rieti, Executive Director, Cumberland County Office of Employment and Training, and we will forward you his response.

Will the improvements planned for the Millville Raceway be pedestrian and bicycle – inclusive?

We have forwarded your question to Mr. Robert Brewer, Cumberland County Planning Director, and we will send you his response.

Debris inside rumble strips on state and County roads (NJ55, NJ347, CR552, CR555, Almond Road , Wrangleboro Road ) should be cleaned or the strips removed.

We have forwarded your comment to the appropriate agency representative.  We would note, however, that the Federal Highway Administration recently released guidance supporting the installation of rumble strips on many two – lane rural highways.  Research cited by FHWA indicates that rumble strips are a cost – effective safety improvement and can significantly reduce total crashes and injury crashes.

Will Almond Road (S0706) have rumble strips?

The Salem County Engineer’s office has informed us that it is too early to determine whether this project will include rumble strips.
