We would note, however, that the Federal Highway Administration recently
released guidance supporting the installation of rumble strips on many two –
lane rural highways. Research cited
by FHWA indicates that rumble strips are a cost – effective safety improvement
and can significantly reduce total crashes and injury crashes.
The Salem County Engineer’s office has informed us that it is too early to determine whether this project will include rumble strips.
